Week 9 Power Of Veto Comp & Ceremony Results (Spoilers)

The results of the Big Brother 24 week 9 Power of Veto competition are in, courtesy of the live feeds, and the winner is the current Head of Household (HOH) Michael Bruner. This is his sixth veto win of the season, and he has now broken Janelle Pierzina’s single-season veto win record of five vetoes from season 7. In later seasons, Daniele Donato (season 8), Paul Abrahamian (season 19), and Kaycee Clark (season 20) had tied Janelle the Veto Queen’s record. Michael achieved this in less than 60 days inside the Big Brother house, which is the fastest anyone has done this in the show’s history. Michael has also tied Janelle’s single-season overall win record of nine wins from season 7, with his three HOH and six veto competition victories.

As HOH, Michael nominated Terrance Higgins and Alyssa Snider for eviction, with Terrance as his target. Michael has not been aligned with either of them since the beginning of the game. Although his Final 2 partner, Brittany Hoopes, thought that targeting their former Leftovers alliance member Matt “Turner” Turner was a better game move, Michael had promised him safety the previous week in return for him evicting Kyle Capener.

Now the Big Brother live feeds have revealed that all the power is in Michael’s hands as he has won the Power of Veto competition during his HOH week. During the veto ceremony, Michael decided not to use the Power of Veto and left his nominations the same, so Terrance will likely be joining the jury this week. Michael and Terrance have had some tension between them after Terrance pointed out that Michael used Kyle’s misstep of assuming that all the people of color in the house were in a secret alliance like The Cookout as a game move. Michael had said that he exposed Kyle because it was the morally right thing to do, but Terrance felt that, if that were true, then Michael would not have kept the information to himself for weeks before disclosing it at the opportune moment to further his own game.

Thursday night’s Big Brother 24 episode will be a double eviction, which means that a week’s worth of the game will be played in one night after either Terrance or Alyssa heads to the jury house. Many of the other Big Brother 24 houseguests have mentioned that Michael will be their target as the game moves forward, and this will be a big opportunity for them to evict him because he will not be eligible to play as the outgoing HOH. He will have to rely on Brittany to win and keep him safe. Another way to ensure his safety for the week would be to win the Power of Veto. If he did, that would be his tenth win of the season, and he would break Janelle’s record.

Michael has proven himself to be one of the most exciting Big Brother houseguests in a long time. A self-proclaimed superfan, he has a love for the game that shines through in his energy in competitions. If he survives the double eviction this week, Michael might be on his way to winning the $750,000 grand prize.

Big Brother airs Sundays and Wednesdays at 8 p.m. EDT and Thursdays at 9 p.m. EDT on CBS.
